Assassin's Creed Mirage Review Roundup

After a three-year hiatus, Ubisoft’s storied stealth-action franchise returns with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which follows a young Assassin named Basim as he navigates the dangerous streets of Baghdad’s golden age. With the game set to launch on October 5, reviews have begun to surface online.

Ubisoft Bordeaux assumed the lead studio role for this Assassin’s Creed installment, as they followed Ubisoft Montreal’s stint as lead with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In fact, Mirage was originally intended to be a downloadable expansion for Valhalla before being turned into a standalone entry in the series.

When Castlevania is discussed today–at this point far-removed from any new games in the series–we often hear about the same few retro titles. The original game paved the way for other action-platformers. Symphony of the Night influenced decades of non-linear action-RPGs, including a long line of great games on the Game Boy Advance and DS.

However, another game rarely discussed in these conversations, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, was a radical departure from the series’ past that drew more from Zelda and God of War than it did from Castlevania. Its departures from the series’ conventions only helped make its big twist even more unexpected–and its ending was so badass that it only made Lords of Shadow 2 more disappointing.

The first image from the upcoming animated DC show Aquaman: King of Atlantis has been released. It comes from a video announcing the rebranding of family content on HBO Max and Cartoon Network under the title Redraw Your World.

Actor Jeff Goldblum will be taking on a recurring role in Season 5 of Search Party on HBO Max, according to Variety. Goldblum will play Tunnel Quinn, a “charismatic tech billionaire who enters a very public business partnership with Dory (Alia Shawkat) on the other side of her near death experience.”

Less than two weeks after Season 4 finished airing back in February, the show was surprisingly greenlit for another season. Surprising because, well, without getting into any spoilers–the previous season delivered a cryptic but satisfyingly conclusion to every storyline. John Wick 4 is one of 2023’s most-anticipated action movies, and now director Chad Stahelski has shared some new details about it. Speaking to Collider, Stahelski said Chapter 4–or whatever title it’s given–will tell a story of John’s “existential crisis.” It will also serve as a “conclusion” of sorts.

“I think Chapter 4 is a good continuation of all three previous films, and it’s got a bit of a conclusion to it, which is great,” he said. “We introduce a ton of new characters that have a lot to say about John Wick from his past and from, obviously, present. I think it’s brotherhood, it’s hope. It’s what the life would really be like as a bit of an existential crisis with John, and I think that’s the fun part of the movie.”
